Sixty people attended our May AGM & Awards breakfast, held at the Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club.   Highlights were award presentations to partners, employers, and to students.

Thank you to MPs Brad Rowswell (state Shadow Minister for Education) and Rachel Westaway (Member for Prahran) who presented the student awards.   Student recipients attended these schools last year:  St Kevin’s, Melbourne Girls’ College, Prahran High,  Preshil, Albert Park College, Camberwell High, Siena, and Glen Eira College.

We were pleased to also present awards to Victoria Police for its partnership with IELLEN (“Safer Families project”).  A second partnership award went to Swinburne Senior Secondary College, a key host school in our VET Cluster.

Five businesses were also recognised.  Logicalis Australia, 1st Call Electrical Services, Blake Oliver, Powercor / Citipower, and Traffio, all for their  support for student placements or participation in school-industry events last year.

In his speech Andrew Neophytou CEO acknowledged “those who give their time and skills, who do good works as volunteers”.  He thanked those who contribute to local communities or to causes close to their hearts.  “That includes those on Committees of charities such as IELLEN.”  He praised those in the private sector, SMEs and corporates, “those who own or manage a business, or who are key decision makers, for opening your doors to young people, giving them insights into work and careers”.
